Sharing the Fruit of God's Spirit

MENTOR

I love being part of God’s work! Click the image to learn how I can support your women’s ministries.

I’ve had the opportunity to lead and participate in a variety of activities. Some have involved women’s groups and others have included our larger faith community. My experiences have brought great joy and a little wisdom, both I’m happy to share.

I’ve also been able to speak with these same groups and others. Sharing a devotion or special message is an honor! I live in the Pacific Northwest with family on the East Coast and in the Mid-West. Let me know if I can be of assistance or share in an afternoon with you and your own special group of ladies.

  • W.O.R.D. Gatherings

“Draw close to God and God will draw close to you.”

James 4:8

Women as One Reading and Discovering God’s Word! I started W.O.R.D. gatherings as a way to share God’s Word. Our weekly get-togethers were ALL about God’s Word, start to finish. We opened praying God’s Word. We closed praying God’s Word. We watched DVDs from The Visual Bible that re-enacts Matthew, John and Acts word-for-word. The dramatizations are faithfully and powerfully shared with the viewer. Together as women, we got to read, pray, and hear the Word of God as shared with us from the Bible. We didn’t discuss the text. We didn’t “dig deeper.” We just read and prayed and heard. It was wonderful!

  •  “Light” Reading Book Club

“When Jesus spoke again to the people, He said,

“I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness,

but will have the light of life.”

John 8:12

Founded with the goal of growing as Christians, the “Light” Reading Book Club brought women together to read and discuss specially selected books. I began with In His Steps by Charles M. Sheldon, a classic 1896 novel about a pastor who shakes up his congregation and community by pledging to ask, “What would Jesus do?” before making any decisions, large or small. Our monthly meetings gave us a chance to review contemporary and historical fiction and non-fiction selections from C. S. Lewis to Max Lucado.

Contact me if I can share ideas, book selections, or other specifics.

  • Friendship Sundays

Our pastor wanted a way to honor church members over the age of 85. Together he and I developed Friendship Sundays as a way to have an annual celebration of special friends. Selecting about ten for each event, members were interviewed and invited to share their favorite Bible verse and hymn. We then built our Sunday worship service around these favorites. A booklet was prepared with each person’s story as shared during their personal interview. The day was a grand recognition of God’s faithful servants—and our friends.

Let me know if you’d like to learn more about this unique way to honor special people.

  • “Caring in Sharing” Women’s Group

“We love because He first loved us.”

1 John 4:19

Our “Caring in Sharing” Women’s Group was started as a way to share our handiwork with those in need. We wanted time to come together as women to pray, to knit and crochet, and to reach out into the community with our time and talents. We met weekly, opening in prayer and asking God to bless the work of our hands. Together we knitted and crocheted. Together we taught others to knit and crochet. We enjoyed a cup of coffee and a bite of chocolate. We prayed that our gifts might warm the hearts of that special someone.

Contact me if you like to talk about ways in which your women can care and share.
