It is written in Isaiah the prophet:

“I will send my messenger ahead of you, who will prepare your way”–

“a voice of one calling in the desert, ‘Prepare the way for the Lord,

make straight paths for him.'”

Mark 1:2-3

I love the holidays and the chance to connect and reconnect with friends and family. This morning as I responded to a brunch invitation, I got to visit with a cousin. As we regrouped on life’s challenges, we reminded each other of God’s love and faithfulness, of God’s relentless pursuit of us, of God’s plan and purpose for our lives.

Today I look out the window at a cold, dark December afternoon in the Northwest. How blessed we are that it is also a time of remembrance and celebration, a time when we get to interject hope, joy, love, and peace into our preparations. At times it’s easier to focus on the gloom of the day, forgetting the spring that is to come. I love thinking about the birth of a baby. I love thinking about a little boy who would be the King of kings.

To know that God’s biggest miracle was all about us is both humbling and astounding!
