Happy Christmas and Merry New Year, Friends and Followers!
Our holidays have been merry and bright. This year’s family picture was taken at my son Kevin’s house in West Seattle. We all had a wonderful celebration of Kevin’s birthday and an early Christmas before he and his wife, Manoela left for Brazil. They plan to spend a week with Manoela’s family before embarking on a belated honeymoon cruise up and down the Brazilian coastline. They’ll end with New Year’s fireworks on Copacabana Beach.
Kevin is still with Lamb Hanson Lamb in West Seattle. He’s currently working toward his MAI designation from the Appraisal Institute. Manoela’s in sales at Tableau Software. Her territory is Brazil, so she gets to speak Portuguese every day and make frequent trips home.
Kyle and Katie were here for the holidays. Katie just finished her bachelor’s degree in nursing. She’s now at the Midwife Center at the Providence Pavilion for Women and Children in Everett, working 9-5 as they say. Kyle is a Certified Financial Planner with Thrivent Financial where his practice continues to grow. Their dog, Birdie, is a delight!
Kurt and I are doing well. My year included a second book and another joint replacement. Signs in Life was published this summer, another book of antics and another chance to connect life to a bigger, more important message of God’s love and faithfulness. With surgery behind me, I’m hoping to do more speaking and meeting with women’s groups.
Kurt has now been with Evergreen, an Atlas agent in Everett, for nine years. He works long days and long weeks. At his busiest, he was still making sure his wife had her iced mocha before heading into yet another 14-hour day. He and the boys try to get out in the boat as often as they can. We still make our annual trek to Crescent Bar, but this year we got to add time with Kurt’s sister Sara and David in The Villages, Florida and my brother, David and Christy at Redington Beach on the Gulf Coast. We also slipped in a trip to Palm Springs, where I moped for days after our Super Bowl loss.
In January we head to Hawaii to celebrate Katie’s 30th birthday. We’d love to be in Brazil next December celebrating Kevin’s 30th. Stay tuned.
Blessings from our house to yours,
Deanna (and Kurt, too!)
