We laughed hard. At one point my cheeks hurt. We groaned through parenting fails, our eyes rolling at the memories. We delighted in our writing goals, encouraging each other to get words on paper. We sipped our cups of coffee, savoring the time, the joy, the opportunity to be together. Later we exchanged text messages, each of us feeling like we’d dominated the conversation.

I’ve only known Heather for two months. Actually it’s really only been six weeks. She was a guest on our Fave Lifestyles show, The Purple Couch, a conversation that inspired me. It also challenged me. Before filming we’d had our first cup of coffee while discussing the upcoming show. I was eager to share her story as a woman who can be in the moment with God, not my strongest asset. Heather left me that day with a smile
and a cheerful “Let’s see where God takes us.”

God took us through a wonderful conversation. We connected on social media, sharing words of encouragement and empowerment. We made a date for that second cup of coffee. We talked about being accountable to each other for writing assignments.

I smile thinking about Heather. When I least expected it, God brought a divinely inspired, beautifully talented, wise, honest woman of faith into my life. I was about to add that she’s an unforeseen, unpredicted, unanticipated ray of hope. More accurate, she’s simply a blessing, God’s favor for such a time as this.
