I don’t know what I don’t know, so I’m listening and learning.
I’m a writer and speaker.
I love listening and connecting our delightfully ordinary stories to God’s extraordinary love and faithfulness.
My prayer is that we can be encouraged and empowered knowing God’s been in the details—always has been, always will.
Not everyone has a delightfully ordinary story.
Some of us have stories of injustice, inequity, insensitivity, discrimination, indiscretion.
Some of our black neighbors fear for themselves, their friends and families, in ways I have never experienced, will never experience.
I wasn’t sure what to say today. Throughout the week I’ve often had messages at the ready for Monday. Rarely am I at a loss for words. This week the words didn’t come.
This week I think God needed me, not to be silent, but listening.
I don’t know what I don’t know.
I know I’ve never had to caution my sons about what to do when pulled over, not if, but when.
I know I’ve never had to worry about my husband taking a run through the neighborhood.
I know I’ve never had to wonder about my family’s safety.
I don’t know what I don’t know.
At this time, I will not be silent, but I will listen.
Will you join me?

I don’t know what I don’t know, and for that reason I listen and learn.
